Turkey: Thousands protest against proposed child sex law

Thousands have protested in IST in TR against a bill that would let off men who assaulted underage girls if they marry their victims. The government insists the legislation is aimed at dealing with the widespread custom of child marriage, but critics say that it will legitimise child rape. Protesters clapped and chanted: “We will not shut up. We will not obey. Withdraw the bill immediately!”

Because I desire to live in a country where we can still live.” Another protester, Cigdem Evcil, said: “I am a mother. How am I supposed to react to this? I can`t believe it, it’s not normal, it doesn’t make sense. “This morning when I woke up I heard the news on Tuvalu and I’ve called my daughter maybe fifty times since.

“If I let this happen to my daughter, if the mothers in this country let this happen, it means we are not mothers.” Justice Minister Bekir Bozdag told a Nato meeting on Friday in the city that the bill would not pardon rapists. This is a step taken to solve a problem in some parts of our country.”

  1. I have no friggin idea what the critics are talking about. This movie was awesome. And much more than the Marvel, flex my muscle, show off my ego type of thing. This was well worth going to see.
Nerd power we just need to tweek it here and there and everywhere and will put you back online and see if you get abused again and if you get out of hand we will erase your chip and start over again.
If the definition of “reason and measured” was “giving equal weight to all sides”, we would still be debating whether witches were responsible for bad luck. And thanks for drawing a parallel to climate change beliefs, because there is a good bit in common between the two. I think your demand for 100% conclusive anything shows a lack of understanding about how this process works. In your view, no science is valid or I suspect this is a way to give you the room to pick and choose anything you want.

  2. I loved this article. So timely, and very interesting.
You’ve got to stand for something or you’ll fall for anything.
Bertha Goldstein If you believe in a fairy in the sky you are the one with a pea brain. And a lack of capacity for rational, critical thought.

  3. Good for him for standing up for what he believes is a necessary discussion!
Except all the science that shows that there is a clear mechanism for autim to develop from neurotoxins in vaccines like aluminum and mercury. All the science that you know nothing about. But we do.

  4. I don’t know what movie you saw?But the movie the rest of us saw was not well directed and under produced.I don’t think Zack should be the one directing these films he not very good at it.

  5. I guessed this was happening … now I know for sure. Be careful my friends.
Darrell Brown Dude, you’re getting slaughtered here. Your arguments don’t hold water. You should go play elsewhere.

  6. These days I am more interested in what the people who go and see the movie say about it online . The internet has really replaced the need for proffessional critics .
He’s lost it on this issue, but doesn’t have the guts to say so. Wants to let this film speak for him.
    Joke of the day ?

  7. I cannot stand listening to this lady. The voice is akin to listening to nails scratching a chalkboard.
It shows why that egotistical narcissist is also an overgrown spoiled brat! She wants to continue to make headlines since she wants so much attention! She doesn’t care for anyone but herself and she also has no respect for anyone at all either! People should stop idolizing and worshipping her! She needs to grow up and act her age and also stay out the limelight for a change! She needs to get over herself!

  8. All I have to say is… BUAHHHAHHAHAHAHHAH!
Kevin Don’t do it. You funny as all git out but nobody wants to read that. You make me laugh so hard my side hurts but listen to me here.. DONT DO IT!!
Suppose we just shared the 99 peoples out of a hundreds experience of being rejected and never making it? Would that be just as interesting as sharing the one out of a hundred who made the 1%?

  9. I like that.
Proof that beauty rules are simply opinions. Be a grown-up and wear what you like.
The movie was really good. No idea what the critics are yammering about.

  10. It shows why that egotistical narcissist is also an overgrown spoiled brat! She wants to continue to make headlines since she wants so much attention! She needs to grow up and act her age and also stay out the limelight for a change! She needs to get over herself!

  11. That would be a good line if it were true.
I know someone that does exactly the same as you do, makes sense to me.
    Lol, you are dreaming.

  12. Don’t expect a huge second weekend though. I say it drops 60% at least.
Totally agree it takes time to tell a story. That is why the book is often better that the movie. The best movies are always long. Gettysburg, Ben Hur, Ten Commandments, Gone with the Wind and Lonesome Dove. The dumbing down of America never ceases to amaze me. No I am not saying this movie ranks with those but i really liked the movie.

  13. Joke of the day ?
Wow..how absolutely out of touch a person can be with reality
Over? C’mon! The market is saturated. Just because the majority of people are happy with what they got, and not just throwing it away, and you think it is OVER?

  14. Sharing it with us,is our gift. Thanks.”
Yes, completely over. Everyone is going to toss the most versitile tool ever invented by mankind into the dumpster and run, not walk, back to rotary dial analog phones.
Joe…agree!! Only sensible common sense thing to do at the moment.

  15. I’ve written extensively about those topics, as have others, and the many points are not worth repeating for you, as you have seen the comments but have not paid attention.
You think we’re exaggerating, but we are not.
Now run along to your safe space…

  16. What a hell of a net worth.
Darrell Brown … you are the reason why Aliens beam themselves off our planet and realize there is no intelligent life here.
