Venezuela opposition leader Capriles says barred from office

VEn authorities confirmed a nineteen-year-old man was killed on Thursday during demonstrations, the first death since the Supreme Court controversy blew up last week. The public prosecutor said later on Friday it would charge police officer Rohenluis Mata with the death of Jairo Ortiz, who the interior minister said was not a protester. Opposition leaders say Ortiz was shot as authorities tried to break up the protest in the hilly, low-income Carrizal area on the outskirts of CCS.

Four Republican senators have expressed reservations about their party’s plan to repeal Obamacare, throwing the health bill’s fate into uncertainty. Ted Cruz, Ron Johnson, Mike Lee and Rand Paul said they were “not ready to vote for this bill”, but were “open to negotiation”. The Senate’s Republican leader unveiled his plan to overhaul the United States healthcare system after drafting it in secret.

Local media reported Ortiz was a university student planning to emigrate from VE, like many in the middle class that have fled to Colorado, Oregon OR, CL or the U.S. city of MIA to escape crime, political unrest, and an economic crisis. VE’s oil-dependent economy is suffering a brutal recession that has millions of people skipping meals because of steep inflation and low salaries. “We’re not only protesting Jairo’s assassination, we’re also protesting this coup, and we’re asking for the opening of a humanitarian channel,” said Carlos Arancibia, a twenty-five-year-old writer demonstrating against Ortiz’ death in a small march on Friday.

The party can only afford to have 2 defections to pass the measure. Republicans need to secure fifty votes when the bill comes to the floor next week. No Democrats are expected to support it. Forty-three people were arrested on Thursday while protesting against the legislation outside the office of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who crafted most of the plan.

The statement from the 4 senators, who are from the more conservative wing of the party, said: “Currently, for a variety of reasons, we are not ready to vote for this bill, but we are open to negotiation and obtaining more information before it is brought to the floor.”

The bill would slash taxes on the wealthy as well as insurance and drug companies, all paid for by steep cuts to Medicaid, a government medical programme for the poor and the majority of older Americans in nursing homes.

Senator Dean Heller – who faces re-election next year – said he had “serious concerns” about the bill’s impact on his home state of NV. “As I have consistently stated, if the bill is good for NV, I’ll vote for it and if it’s not – I won’t,” he said in a statement. Susan Collins of ME said it was “too soon” to decide on whether she would vote for the bill.

Repealing Mr Obama’s law, called the Affordable Care Act but also known as Obamacare, was a central promise of Republicans throughout his presidency. He described it as “a massive transfer of wealth from middle-class and poor families to the richest people in America”. The Senate’s legislation follows the House of Representatives version, which passed the lower chamber 6 weeks ago.

The proposals affects tens of millions of Americans and a sixth of the United States economy. The bill mostly aligns with the House plan, but ties federal subsidies for individuals based on their income rather than age – as the Affordable Care Act currently does. It would make it more difficult for recipients to qualify for those subsidies, however, by implementing more restrictions on income requirements.

Critics of the House bill, which tied the subsidies to age, say it unfairly penalised older Americans. The Senate plan phases out the expansion of Medicaid more gradually than the House bill.

The bill also gives states more latitude in requiring insurers to provide essential health benefits guaranteed under Obamacare, including emergency and maternity care and mental health services. Sure, there are a few key differences.

It appears Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell hopes to mollify moderates and hard-liners by pushing the painful changes to low-income insurance programmes farther down the road. Whether that’s enough to cobble together the bare-minimum fifty votes necessary from the 5two Republicans in the Senate will be the big question next week. They party has spent the last 7 years saying it would tear Obamacare up “root and branch”, in Mr McConnell’s words, and they can’t risk walking away empty handed.

Senator McConnell expects the bill to come to the Senate floor as early as next week, when the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office releases the plan’s estimated cost and impact on Americans. The House would need to pass the bill as it stands and send it to President Donald Trump’s desk to sign into law or draft another version, which both chambers would again have to approve.

  1. So Lovely…Touches My Soul!!!
Of course, these folks seem to think because they are well-known, that somehow that makes them smarter than the rest of us

  2. Totally agree it takes time to tell a story. That is why the book is often better that the movie. The best movies are always long. Gettysburg, Ben Hur, Ten Commandments, Gone with the Wind and Lonesome Dove. The dumbing down of America never ceases to amaze me. No I am not saying this movie ranks with those but i really liked the movie.
Rejection is great. It makes you more determined for the next onslaught..Always stay the course, cause the tracks only go one way. You eventually will see the light.
Then you’re even more dim than I originally thought. Due to you already being at the far end of the dim meter, you’ve accomplished an amazing feat! Congrats!!!

  3. David W Donnell Lolz you demonize a very intelligent point and countered with a statement that twists the the original idea to something incoherent, showing how you obviously didn’t understand his claim! Oh man, you’re just so adorable how you think you can logic

  4. Except all the science that shows that there is a clear mechanism for autim to develop from neurotoxins in vaccines like aluminum and mercury. All the science that you know nothing about. But we do.

  5. Over? C’mon! The market is saturated. Just because the majority of people are happy with what they got, and not just throwing it away, and you think it is OVER?

  6. That is not a very intelligible comment. Do try to think of why these things might actually be different.
Mr Marxist is really showing his true colors now…
I have 0 interest in the idea that the general public, lackingthe relevant expertise, training & experience, can determine the truth about something. Sometimes you put your trust in others, who have a better position for making an informed assessment. Do you ask a guy down the pub if this skin rash is cancer…….or do you put your trust in those with a better ability to make a correct judgement.

  7. This guys is in a world of his own.
I found people who accepted me, let me stim, have meltdowns and whatever I needed to get through the day (something I was not allowed in my youth). Please just let her be her, don’t let the predator/vaxxers do their thing, they circle like sharks (they did to me), but carry on. Things will work out. Thanks for all the years of great entertainment and goodwill. You two will be great parents (we’ve met, but you probably don’t remember when/where) in L.A. Keep up the great work.
We’re not like you so don’t worry. No one is going to read one article then go burn a mosque. That’s called projection btw.
