Christian school goes to court to defend a 30-second pregame prayer

(Courtesy Beth Dare) Last December the FL High School Athletic Association (FHSaudi ArabiaA) refused to allow a private Christian school to deliver a pregame prayer over a loudspeaker before a championship football game. On Sept. twenty-seven Cambridge Christian School filed a federal lawsuit against the FHSaudi ArabiaA alleging they unlawfully censored the prayer and violated the players’ religious freedoms.

Mexicans very negative on Trump, but back talks with him: poll

The survey by polling firm Buendia & Laredo for newspaper El Universal showed that seventy-four percent of respondents had a negative opinion of Trump, a Republican. Only five percent had a positive view of him. Trump, who launched a string of verbal attacks on MX during the campaign, has vowed to build a wall along the U.S. President Enrique Pena Nieto sparked widespread anger by inviting Trump to MX City for talks at the end of August.

The case stems from a Dec. fourth game between Cambridge Christian and University Christian School. The game was played at Camping World Stadium in MCO. Cambridge asked permission to use the public address system to deliver a pregame prayer – a long-standing school tradition. “We are raising godly young men that can make a difference in the world they live in,” Coach Bob Dare said. “This is why Cocos [Keeling] IslandsS has committed to praying before every home football game.”

A parallel survey by the same pollster published at the weekend showed that nearly two-thirds of Mexicans believed the invitation was a mistake. Still, now that Trump has been elected president, fivethree percent of Mexicans said Pena Nieto should meet the NYer to promote the country’s interests with the US, the poll showed. Fully five2 percent of the respondents said they held a positive opinion of Trump’s defeated Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton, with only seven percent of the opposite view.

However, the FL High School Athletic Association denied their request – and refused to let them use the taxpayer-funded microphone. “Although both schools are private and religious-affiliated institutions, the federal law addresses 2 pertinent issues that prevent us from granting your request,” FHSaudi ArabiaA executive director Roger Dearing wrote to Headmaster Tim Euler. “First is the fact that the facility is a public facility, predominantly paid for with public tax dollars, makes the facility ‘off limits’ under federal guidelines and precedent court cases,” Dearing wrote. “Second, is the fact that in FL Statutes, the FHSaudi ArabiaA (host and coordinator of the event) is legally a ‘State Actor’, we cannot legally permit or grant permission for such an activity.”

Both teams ended up gathering on the field to pray – but fans and spectators were unable to hear. “Thus, by denying access to the loudspeaker, the FHSaudi ArabiaA denied the students, parents, and fans in attendance the right to participate in the players’ prayer or to otherwise come together in prayer as 1 Christian community,” the lawsuit states. Headmaster Euler tells me he never thought he would see the day in America where a Christian school would have to go to court to defend a thirty-second pregame prayer.

“This is an opportunity for us to defend our faith as a school,” he said. “And I think more and more as followers of Christ, we’ve got to stand in the gap and defend biblical principles.” First Liberty Institute attorney Jeremy Dys told me the FL High School Athletic Association committed an egregious violation of the U.S. “They’re telling the Christian school that because your speech is religious, it’s not welcome here,” he said.

Euler said the school has no choice but to wage a legal battle with the FHSaudi ArabiaA. “When I stand before my students and say you’ve got to defend your faith in public – if I refuse to do that as a leader of this school, how can I ask them to do that?” he said. Sadly, we live in a radically transformed nation – where people of faith are no longer welcome to practice what they preach in the public marketplace.

  1. If the definition of “reason and measured” was “giving equal weight to all sides”, we would still be debating whether witches were responsible for bad luck. And thanks for drawing a parallel to climate change beliefs, because there is a good bit in common between the two. I think your demand for 100% conclusive anything shows a lack of understanding about how this process works. In your view, no science is valid or I suspect this is a way to give you the room to pick and choose anything you want.
who let this stupid monkey use the internet.
Lee Eric, amusing. Now please support your ridiculous threat with a list of your felonies. And then run along back to your bridge.

  2. Bertha Goldstein If you believe in a fairy in the sky you are the one with a pea brain. And a lack of capacity for rational, critical thought.

  3. Awesome movie! I’m goiing to watch it again next week. Critics are idiots.
Wouldn’t it be interesting to interview the two who sent rejection notices? If you can find which gutter they were kicked out to.

  4. She’s as dumb as a post.
    Thank you for the story.
I don’t know what movie you saw?But the movie the rest of us saw was not well directed and under produced.I don’t think Zack should be the one directing these films he not very good at it.

  5. Now run along to your safe space…

I think someone is pulling a early April Fools joke. Just not sure on who..

  6. “Thank you very much. You knowledge on the subject is unparalleled.
And I haven’t read any solid proof that Ted Cruz is not the Zodiac killer…so he might be!
It’s a modern day book burning. Yes, yes, I know they feel they are the ones that are right and feel it’s justified in this case, so it’s ok.

  7. Totally agree it takes time to tell a story. That is why the book is often better that the movie. The best movies are always long. Gettysburg, Ben Hur, Ten Commandments, Gone with the Wind and Lonesome Dove. The dumbing down of America never ceases to amaze me. No I am not saying this movie ranks with those but i really liked the movie.
You’ve got to stand for something or you’ll fall for anything.

  8. Oh hell, why not.
Nobody is more focused than the one with nothing to lose or everything to gain. It almost reminds me of a quote that I have partly forgotten. Something to do with workers and chains. And a world to win.

  9. And I haven’t read any solid proof that Ted Cruz is not the Zodiac killer…so he might be!
Sharing it with us,is our gift. Thanks.”

  10. You mean like the stupid people that refuse to do any research on their own and that just blindly believe that the current CDC schdule of SEVENTY FOUR vaccine doses before age 18 has absolutely nothing to do with the exploding epidemic of autism? The stupid people that have read the THOUSANDS of peer-reviewed published articles linking vaccination to brain and gut damage (both symptoms of autism?). The stupid people that have spent YEARS actually researching the issue and have come to the conclusion that mass vaccination in developed countries has caused much, much more harm than good? The stupid people that have acutually listend to the many, many scientists and doctors that are not ” bought” that have spoken out against vaccination with sound, verifiable data? If you mean those stupid people, then yeah, I agree. Can’t you – just for a moment- entertain the idea that maybe you have been lied to?
Yes, completely over. Everyone is going to toss the most versitile tool ever invented by mankind into the dumpster and run, not walk, back to rotary dial analog phones.

  11. That is not a very intelligible comment. Do try to think of why these things might actually be different.
    Oh hell, why not.
